Summary:

  • Position Summary

    The Medical Scheduler is responsible for coordinating patient appointments, managing provider schedules, and ensuring efficient daily operations within a healthcare facility. This role serves as a key point of contact for patients and requires strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Schedule, confirm, reschedule, and cancel patient appointments
  • Coordinate provider calendars and maintain accurate scheduling records
  • Answer incoming phone calls and respond to patient inquiries professionally
  • Verify patient demographics, insurance information, and referral requirements
  • Communicate appointment instructions, preparation requirements, and follow-up information
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information in compliance with HIPAA regulations
  • Manage appointment reminders and reduce scheduling conflicts or no-shows
  • Coordinate with clinical staff regarding urgent appointments and scheduling adjustments
  • Enter and update patient information in electronic medical record (EMR) systems
  • Assist with front desk or administrative duties as needed

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Previous medical office, scheduling, or customer service experience preferred
  • Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems and medical terminology preferred
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and scheduling software

Work Environment

Pay Range

USD $15.00 - USD $15.00 /Hr.
